While the band has taken some down time from doing shows, so that we can record our next album, I have had a little more free time to hit up some sales. I'm so glad too, because lately I have found some amazing pieces. I have been inspired to start shopping again for the store, rather than just myself. It's actually really hard to do. I love everything that I buy and more often than not, I want to keep everything rather than sell it. Especially this little number below. It is so pretty and comfortable and versatile. I reluctantly posted it to the store.
It's not only great as a skirt, but slap a belt around it and you have the cutest summer dress ever!
A large part of me hopes that no one buys it. However, I really need the money right now, so.... (sigh) it's up for grabs. Whoever buys it is seriously going to love it.
I forgot how much work is involved with posting to the store. There are hours of digging through racks and racks of clothes just to find the one piece that is great. That part is actually quite fun for me, though. I feel like a pirate searching for treasure. It is, however, very time consuming. Then each piece needs to be carefully looked over for flaws. Then there is the measuring.
It is really important to take every measurement possible and accurately when selling clothes online. Buyers don't have the convenience of stepping into a dressing room to see if an item fits, so they have to rely on accurate measurements and even then it is sort of a gamble. Vintage clothes are sized differently than modern clothes. A size 16 in a vintage dress translates closer to a size 8 or 10 in modern day sizing. It can get sort of confusing. So, measuring is probably one of the most important things to do for posting new stuff. It's also the most boring thing to do.
The next thing is taking pictures of each item, which is also very time consuming. It's important to get the lighting just right. Each piece also has to be pictured from various angles. The clothes have to fit the model right. Tags need to be photographed. And then of the dozens of pictures taken, after scrutinizing each one, only 4 or 5 will be used on the site. Sometimes it is a pain in the rear to take all the pictures, but this last photo shoot we had was really fun.
We played around with jumping and twirling around with the skirt on.

We had a lot of fun with this shoot and neither one of us really wanted to take that skirt off. I honestly think that skirt may hold some super positive energy that just makes you happy when you wear it. It's like a magic skirt!
My 8 yr old daughter even got involved and started taking all the pics of us. She acted like a tiny little professional. She also told me later that she might want to be a photographer when she grows up; that and a baker and a chef.
She's such a little sweetie pie.
If you are into vintage clothes and housewares, etc.. please stop by the etsy shop by clicking right here. All the proceeds go to buying groceries and gas and more vintage goodies. There is also some Catfish Mustache merchandise on there that you can buy to help support the band!
