Our most recent project was our "new" soap dispenser. I've been guilty of buying the cheap, little plastic hand soap dispensers on more than one occasion. When they go empty, I have also been guilty of buying a new one and getting rid of the old one, instead of filling it up from a more environmentally conscience soap container. I always recycle the old ones, but still. We used to have a nice little glass turtle dispenser that I picked up at the thrift store, but the poor guy was dropped from slippery hands and now he rests in pieces. hardy har har.
Instead of buying another glass dispenser, which is at the risk of being dropped by slippery hands, we decided to decorate a cheapy one and re-use it to our hearts content.
out of soap
little bit o white spray paint... i didn't pull the sticker off, which, would have been better, but either way, it works, so....
after drying, commence drawing with sharpies

- Project Stats
- Total time
- about an hour w/ paint drying time
- Cost
- ZERO dollars- I already had all the necessary supplies on hand
- Fun factor- 3 out of 5
- it was so easy that we didn't spend much time really getting into it
- maybe next time we'll bedazzle one, so we can get more creative
- Potential (for lack of a better word at this time)
- Could be made as a personalized gift to someone filled with their favorite soap scent
- Could also be re-filled with hand sanitizer
Do you have a smart project for re-using an old product? I'd love to hear about it and maybe try it. Submit your ideas in the comments below. If it's awesome, you could be a guest blogger here and tell everyone!
